A Heartfelt Thank You to Deb Workman

Feb 19, 2026 | Jr. Camps, Expanding Stage, Tours

After more than 25 years of extraordinary service, Theatre 605 bids a heartfelt farewell to Deb Workman, our longtime Artistic Director of Education, as she begins her well-earned retirement.

Deb’s journey with Theatre 605 began in 1992 as a Black Hills Playhouse company member, and over the decades, her passion, creativity, and belief in the power of theatre shaped generations of South Dakotans. As a co-founder of CTCSD/Dakota Players, now known as Theatre 605 Tours, Deb helped bring live theatre directly to young people across the state, sparking curiosity, confidence, and connection through storytelling.

Her impact reaches far beyond the stage. Deb played a pivotal role in establishing Theatre 605 Jr. Camps for students in grades 5–12 and championed inclusive theatre initiatives such as Expanding Stage, ensuring that individuals of all abilities and backgrounds had access to meaningful creative experiences. Through these programs, countless youth and families discovered not only a love for the arts but a sense of belonging.

Linda Anderson, Executive Director of Theatre 605, shared her gratitude, saying, “Without Deb Workman, Theatre 605 would not have thrived. Her innovative arts education programs have benefited thousands of people and their families across South Dakota. She will be missed, and we wish her the very best for a beautiful and creative future.”

Reflecting on her career, Deb shared, “It has been a dream come true to advance the arts in our state. Our efforts to enhance the quality of life and provide creative education have been profoundly meaningful. I am forever grateful for the clients, campers, cast members, board members, and colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with throughout the years.”

As Deb steps into her next chapter, Theatre 605 celebrates a legacy built on dedication, imagination, and an unwavering belief in the arts as a force for good. We invite our community to join us in wishing Deb heartfelt congratulations on her retirement and sincere thanks for the lasting impact she has made across South Dakota. Her influence will continue to be felt as we build on her work and carry her vision forward for years to come.
